The blues of blue. If you have not yet read my website, one of the interesting things about me as a photographer is that I am color blind. This does not mean I only see black and white, it means I can not distinguished between colors. The perfect example how this affects my life was this morning. I got up and shoveled the driveway and started my day normally. I decided to wear a grey suit with a light blue shirt, I knew it was blue. I then proceeded to review my ties and select a blue and grey one. After finishing up downstairs I proceeded upstairs where Melissa kindly told me my tie was purple and did not match. I then went back downstairs and selected yet another blue and grey tie. Upon arriving back up stairs Melissa again informed me by tie was purple. She could sense my frustration and decided to come downstairs and help me pick out a tie to match, this one reason I love her. It is funny that I am a 36 years old male that still needs help getting dressed every now and then. But with everything there is silver lining. Yes I have trouble determining if things are blue or purple or green and brown, but I still manage to be successful at being a photographer. How can that be? I get this asked many times. Some fans ask me to color correct photo's the way I see it so they can see what my world looks like. On professional photos I use the color histogram to align the colors, lights, darks, and mid-tones. this is much more analytical approach to color correcting but it keeps in the real world. Like everything you can always find ways around your limitations and still be successful at what you love doing. Blue or purple the fact that I am color blind never gives me the blues.
